Stay Compliant. Don't Risk Your Immigration Status.

IRCC rules for onshore applications change frequently. An incorrect or incomplete application can result in refusals, gaps in status, or long-term consequences for your PR pathway. At Hike Visa Consultants, we review your complete immigration history before advising you — because honest guidance is always better than a costly mistake.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What is implied status in Canada?
If you apply to extend your study permit, work permit, or visitor status before your current one expires, you are allowed to remain in Canada under implied status while IRCC processes your application.

Q: Can I work while my Open Work Permit extension is being processed?
Yes — if you apply before your current OWP expires, implied status allows you to continue working under the same conditions as your existing permit.

Q: Do I need to leave Canada to change my DLI?
No. A DLI change requires a new study permit application submitted from inside Canada — you do not need to exit and re-enter.

Q: Can I travel outside Canada while my visitor record extension is pending?
No. Leaving Canada while your Visitor Record extension is in process will cancel your implied status and you will need to re-enter on a valid visa.
