The Super Visa is a multiple-entry long-stay visa exclusively for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Unlike a regular visitor visa (6 months per entry), the Super Visa allows stays of up to 5 years at a time — with the visa valid for a full 10 years.

Frequently asked questions
How is the Super Visa different from a regular visitor visa?
A regular visitor visa allows only 6 months per entry. The Super Visa allows up to 5 years per entry and is valid for 10 years — far better for families wanting extended time together without repeated applications.
Can both parents apply at the same time?
Yes. Both parents can apply together, but the host's income must cover the total family size — including both parents.
Can my parents work in Canada on the Super Visa?
No. Super Visa holders cannot work and are not eligible for provincial health coverage — which is why private Canadian medical insurance is mandatory.
What if we didn't meet the income threshold last year?
Under the new 2026 rules, income from either of the two preceding tax years now qualifies — so a strong 2024 income counts even if 2025 was lower.
Can my parents re-enter Canada multiple times?
Yes. The Super Visa is multiple-entry and valid for up to 10 years — your parents can travel back to India and return to Canada without reapplying each time.
What if my parents want to stay beyond 5 years?
The 5-year period can be extended by 2 more years from inside Canada. We assist with onshore extension applications as well.
